For any nature lover, eco-friendly activist, or just someone who wants to slow down global warming, here’s an article that will definitely interest you.

Here are some facts that won’t just surprise but also horrify you:

  • In 2019 the Earth’s temperature was roughly 0.95 degrees Celsius above the 20th-century average.
  • The economic loss due to the 2012 drought in theUnited States amounted to almost $20 billion worth of damages making it the most costly drought in history.
  • The global CO2 emissions have moved up significantly all the way to 36.57 billion metric tonnes. These kinds of emissions were unheard of in the pre-industrial or earlier industrial period.
  • The minimum Arctic sea ice extent stood at barely 3.74 m square kilometers. This is a significant dip from earlier years.

With these terrifying situations in front of us, it almost feels like we’re being called to do something eco-friendly for the environment. So what can we do?

1. Reduce consumption:

Instead of buying hundreds of thousands of articles, be it clothing, fixtures, or disposables, try to buy fewer clothes. This won’t just be an interesting way to reduce your trash but by encouraging small businesses to switch to digital business cards and online modes of payment, thousands of kilos of paper can be saved resulting in a ridiculous amount of savings.

2. Reuse existing items:

By encouraging the reuse of old items by converting them into something else for a different purpose or using them as they are you can save a lot of money as well as reduce your carbon footprint to be more eco-friendly.

3. Recycle instead of throwing away:

Instead of throwing a glass bottle in a dump where it can take over a thousand years to decompose, sending it to a recycling factory where it can be melted to create something else or cleaned and reused.

Metal, plastic, glass, and wood can be quite easily recycled and save hundreds and hundreds of tonnes of metal, machinery, and most importantly electricity.

4. Always stay sustainable:

Sustainability is the name of the game when it comes to living a eco-friendly lifestyle. Being sustainable in everything you do conserves money and effort but also works towards making a more clean and green planet for us. Investing in sustainable ways of living right now will extend the lifespan of the world, for you and your children for time to come.

5. Use long-lasting electrical appliances:

Using CFL and LED lamps instead of the classic incandescent bulbs will simply save hundreds of dollars of money and also save tonnes upon tonnes of power especially in bigger establishments. A single LED bulb uses less power than a tenth of what an incandescent uses, this adds up to a lot of saving in the end.

6. Volunteer for work:

Community work including cleaning up the surroundings, clean-ups of parks, planting of trees, or any other drives and campaigns. The world needs manpower and effort to help clean the soil and waters and your help can change the world.

7. Conserve Water:

Water is the soul of the universe, there’s not a single organism in this world that does not need water to live. Water is vital, saving water when you bathe, drink, or wash utensils, clothes, and vehicles will reduce water consumption. With hundreds upon hundreds of people dying of thirst in third world countries every year, every drop counts.

8. Don’t fall for consumerism:

Consumerism is the greatest folly of today’s society, many products and items are solely produced for one-time use. These products are horrible for the environment and are mostly bought for marketing agenda.

This is horrible for both plants and the global carbon emissions, wisely spending is the way for a better and cleaner future.

Thankfully, over time several nations have worked together in various organizations to help save the planet. With almost 301.7 billion dollars being invested in clean energy and almost 88% of the countries worldwide taking steps towards it we’re in sight of a bright and hopeful future.

However, every little bit helps, even a tiny deed can translate to a great deal of work done for the world. If this planet dies, we have nowhere else to go. So remember this and make healthy decisions. Our planet’s fate rests in your hands.
