Recently, Sport Central received an incredible boost when Jake DeBrusk, a forward for the Boston Bruins and a local Edmontonian, partnered with Bauer Hockey to donate over $25,000 worth of brand-new hockey gear, including skates, sticks, and helmets. “We’re incredibly thankful for these donations,” said Sheldon Oleksyn, executive director of Sport Central. “Bauer and Jake DeBrusk have given us enough hockey gear for two years. This kind of support is huge for us.”

Jake DeBrusk is not the only local NHL player supporting Sport Central. Sheldon Oleksyn revealed that there are three NHL players who consistently donate to the cause. “These players have a deep loyalty to their community,” said Oleksyn. “They’re from Edmonton, and no matter where they play in the NHL, they remain committed to helping out their hometown.”

“We need to spread the word so we can help more families,” Oleksyn emphasized.

“What we need more than anything are cash donations to help cover the cost of sports enrollment fees,” Oleksyn explained. “Parents who are already struggling financially can’t afford the fees, and that’s where Sport Central comes in. Your donations help cover these costs, ensuring kids can still participate in sports.”
